It seems that Lord of the Flies lingers as a distasteful memory for a lot of us. It expresses contempt for indigenous cultures, and embraces a cultural hierarchy, with Western empire on top. One day, in , six boys set out from Tonga on a fishing trip. They left safe harbor, and fate befell them. Caught in a huge storm, the boys were shipwrecked on a deserted island. What do they do, this little tribe? They made a pact never to quarrel, because they could see that arguing could lead to mutually assured destruction.

Lord of the flies is a novel which is inevitably pointing to a racist view of society on how that british boys from a private school will often depict to a savage type of society and resort to violence and barbaric manors in the way they do things - if left alone unattended on an island that is. I, in this essay will try to create an open view on both sides of the argument.
Although I will depict both sides, I do have a perforation to one argument, which is the fact that it is a statement which was created from people over thinking the book. I am not saying it is a wrong statement, just that I do not agree with it.
It depicts that if a group of boys were removed from a civilised area, they would eventually resort to a state of savagery and an incompetent assault to the way that they deal with things.
In my opinion the book in some way, is racist, but mostly is not. Get Access. Read More.
